چکیده

A transaction is a set of read and write comnands surrounded by BEGIN and END, and these structured commands are sent by a client to the file system. To ensure successful transaction update, it should have an atomic property and be processed in serially ordered fashion. The purpose of this paper is to develop a file system which has realtime attributes and wkich can support nested transaction services between geographically distributed systems. In order to support this transaction service correctly, this system provides locking and logging capabilities, and realtime features of the file system are achieved by providing a fast retiponse and timeout service to the user. We have designed locking, logging mechanisms for transaction support and have designed a new kernel structure in-order to support a realtime features.

A Distributed Data-Storage Service for Supporting Group Collaborations TR92-044

The architecture and implementation of a distributed data-storage service is presented. Requirements for this design were deterruined from our research on computer and communications systems to support groups of users collaborating to solve complex problems such as the design of large software systems. The data model supported by the system is much richer than that of conventional file systems ...

Odysseus/DFS: Integration of DBMS and Distributed File System for Transaction Processing of Big Data

The relational DBMS (RDBMS) has been widely used since it supports various high-level functionalities such as SQL, schemas, indexes, and transactions that do not exist in the O/S file system. But, a recent advent of big data technology facilitates development of new systems that sacrifice the DBMS functionality in order to efficiently manage large-scale data. Those so-called NoSQL systems use a...

Commit Processing in Distributed Real-Time Database Systems - Real-Time Systems Symposium, 1996., 17th IEEE

W e investigate here the performance implications of supporting transaction atomicity in a distributed realtime database system. Using a detailed simulation model of a firm-deadline distributed real-time database sgstem, we profile the real-time performance of a representative set of commit protocols. A new commit protocol that i s designed for the real-time domain and allows transactions to “o...
